Patience Is Worth It!

After waiting almost a week I recieved my Nikon Coolpix S560 in the mail today. It was so fun to open it up and read the manual. Before, I would have to use my sister's camera to take pictures for my blog, but now I won't have to. So be ready for more pictures!

Back to the Beautiful Virginia!

It sure is good to be back home after being gone for a week. We got back around midnight last night, and found mom awake waiting for us, which was amazing! I was sorta hoping that there wouldn't be any snow on the ground after having it snow everyday in Ohio, but oh well. Onto something else, I have been saving up my money to be able to afford a camera and so tonight after 3 months of saving I was able to purchase one on Amazon. So that will be something I will be looking forward to arrive in the mail.
I am sure most of you reading this have heard of the devastating and horrific earthquake in Haiti. What a trajic thing to happen in the poorest country in the western hemisphere. Just awful. No words can describe the tragedy brought upon those in Haiti. Let us keep all those in Haiti in our prayers. It just makes you feel so much more grateful for what you have and the status of where you live.
Blessings to you,

A Visit with The David Kline

First of all I will give a little background information about David Kline for those of you who may not know "THE DAVID KLINE" (Sorry got a little carried away there). Anyways, Daivd is an Amish man who lives in Holmes County, Ohio. He is the author of two books called: Great Possessions and Scratching a Woodchuck. This year for school we read from Great Possessions every Tuesday and Thursday. In the book Great Possessions David writes of his farm and all the creatures he finds on his farm. From reading his book you can definately see his love and passion to get to know every part of his farm. He is a dedicated farmer and has a deep faith.
So today my dad and sisters and I got to visit THE David Kline since we were in Ohio. On the way there I was getting some butterflies cause I mean I was going to meet David Kline. Sorry to those of you who cannot relate to my excitement right now. Anyways, we put David's address into the GPS and it took us sorta close. But anyways we found our way there. When we got there David invited us into his house and we sat down in the living room with the wood stove keeping us warm. First of all, I will have to admit my dad was a little bit more excited than I was. So my dad was the one who asked most of the questions. My dad likes to think of David as an inspiration to him. So my dad talked about multiple things with David. It was very fun listening to David overflowing with all of his knowledge about so many things. Overall, it was a very neat to meet David and now will be able to put a face to him while reading his book.
Another subject, we left from Kidron, Ohio at around 1:00pm and are right now in Goshen, Indiana. My great uncle passed away this week and the funeral is tomorrow here in Goshen.  Tomorrow after the funeral we will be heading back to VA.
Blessings to all,

Saturday

Today was more of a relaxed day, I mean it is Saturday isn't it?! We slept in this morning and had cereal for breakfast. We then just hung around home till lunch time. Then we drove down to my great aunt Virgene's house and my great grandma Steffen's house for lunch. After lunch we went into town and stopped at MCC Connections (Thrift Store) and Lehmans. Tonight we are planning to get the snowmobile out and take turns riding it.

We made it!

We arrived around 4:30pm yesterday afternoon to my grandparents house in Ohio. My dad immediately got the wood stove going and we started to unpack. Once we unpacked we called Kidron Pizza and ordered a pizza. We picked up the pizza and got some chips from the local grocery. We then had supper and watched an awesome show called Man vs. Wild on Discovery Channel. Then this morning we had pop-tarts for breakfast, a very special treat. After breakfast we had school for an hour or two and then head out for our first adventure. Our first adventure was a trip to the Thursday Livestock sale. Animals like cows, goats, sheep, and 1 day old calves were there. Then lunchtime came around and we headed over to the local hotspot diner for lunch. I got a swiss chesseburger with onion rings, yum. After lunch we went to Central Christian High School, where my mom attended high school and where my mom and dad taught for three years. We got a tour of the school from the superintendent, Gene Miller also known as Coach to my dad. Gene was my dad's high school soccer and basketball coach at Sarasota Christian High School in Florida and was also a mentor to him. The school was very nice somewhat like EMHS. After that we headed to Orville and got groceries from Buelers. On our way home it started to snow and right now it is snowing quite hard. We plan to get out the snowmobile once it stops. A good day so far and I am enjoying my time here!

A Week in Kidron, Ohio

Tomorrow morning myself, my sister Kate, my sister Anya, and my dad are going to leave for what will be a week long visit in Kidron, Ohio. O the joys of being homeschooled! We will be staying at my grandparents house, though they will not be around. They will be travelling to California for a month of working with MDS (Mennonite Disaster Service). So we will be taking care of their house for a week. Things like hauling wood up to the house for their wood stove, plowing the lane if there is snow, and getting the mail will be on the agenda. Also while we are there we will be having school and doing fun activites my dad has planned for us. So throughout our week there, I will be updating you on some of the adventures we will endure!
Stay Tuned! And let us remember those who do not have a warm shelter to stay in during these frigid temperatures and let us be grateful.
Take Care,
