Palm Sunday.

I don't know about you, but when I think of Palm Sunday I think of palm branches being waved by children. Today in church my pastor brought alive a new meaning and way for me to think about Palm Sunday and the week leading up to Easter. Not that palm branches being waved by children is bad or anything. The title of his sermon was "Letting go of death to hold on to life", this week as a Christian I remember Jesus's ultimate sacrifice and death for us. Leading up to his unimaginable resurrection. Ben (my pastor) helped us think of Jesus's triumphful entry in a different context. Think about how Jesus was feeling as he was coming into the city on a donkey, knowing that in the week to come he was going to die. People were cheering, waving palm branches, singing praises.  Ben challenged us this week remember Jesus's death, and not to jump to conclusions-his resurection. Because think of how the disicples and those who were living it, they didn't know Jesus was going to rise again. For me that just puts this week at a whole other meaning. We will never know the pain Jesus suffered to die for US!! So I encourage you this week as we remember Jesus's just amazing love for us, to ponder that deeply. I know for me this week I am going to put myself in the disciples shoes and take in consideration how they felt. Just remember the amazing reality that Jesus loved us SOOOO much to die for US!! The biggest sacrifice is death, and Jesus did that for me and you!
Another thing that I found as a highlight today was my Sunday school lesson. One of the activites we did was rewrite John 3:16 in our own words. Then we shared our interpretations. I found Kate's to be pretty awesome, so I thought I would share it with you:
John 3:16 (Kate's Interpretation)
We mean so much to God that he gave up his Son's perfect life so that we could live our lives to the fullest with him, and not in pain.
Awesome Kate!
Lastly, the answer to my game 'Two Truths and a Lie' is.........................................#3. I really dislike blueberry ice cream. So that's the lie, and that means I did kiss a boy in preschool and I have been on the 5th tallest roller coaster in the world. It was called Millennium Force, and its at Cedar Point in Ohio. It was a blast! Good Job Alicia and Kiara!!

A Real Treat

Yesterday afternoon I had the real privelge of learning from 'the expert' my grandma on how to make pie crusts. My grandma quotes while she was rolling out the crust, "When I was your age people used to say that a girl was ready to be married when she could make it into a circle." She means when your rolling out the pie crust you try to make it into a circle so it can fit onto the pie pan well without having to do much trimming. So once you could make it into a circle you could be married. I found that to be funny and interesting. Working and learning by my grandmother's side was a very cool experience for me. After the process of making the pie crusts we fit them into the pie pans and then made a pie. The recipe we used made 3 crusts, we froze 2 and made one into a pecan pie. I have some pictures, but for some reason they are not loading :(
So you just have to picture a pecan pie :)

A Real Big Bummer

Today of all days the first day of spring I am sick!! Sick with the flu! With temperatures reaching the 70s here in Harrisonburg it was a real bummer to be sick. I am praying its just a 24 hour thing because tomorrow is my church's Easter Drama. Hope everyone enjoyed the first day of spring more than I did.

Snow Tubing @ Massanutten

On Saturday evening my youth group and I went snow tubing at Massanutten Resort. I had never been snow tubing at a resort before, but had tubed on a hill at home. So this was a whole new thing to me. We arrived at the resort and attached these tag things that said we could get in, to our jackets. Then we picked out our tubes (trying to find a less flatter ones because supposedly they go faster). After that we loaded onto a lift that was sorta like a big conveyer belt, and it took us up the hill. Once we reached the top we waited in lines for our turn down the hill. I will admit I was a little nervous while waiting, but it wasn't worth it. My first turn down the hill was so fast and totally amazing! The second time wasn't so thrilling it was more like sickening. I spun so fast on the way down, I felt like I was going to throw up when I got off. Thankfully I didn't! The next couple turns were still spinny but fun. Then they allowed us to attach two tubes by rope and go two at a time. So Kate and I did that the rest of the night because we were sick of spinning (literally), and going two at a time doesn't make you spin. Our time block ended at 7pm so we loaded up in the car. For supper we went to Hank's Smokehouse! Awesome! I definately recommend it! It was a great night!

A Hopeful Sign of Spring.

I can't believe it is already March. When I think of March I think of spring, but its hard to believe that spring is around the corner when there is still snow on the ground. I managed to find a sign of the season to come in my backyard that made me a little bit more hopeful, and I thought I would share it with you:
Some daffodil's peeking up beside the snow in the garden.....
I know this cloudy and dreary weather can sometimes drain our energy but let us (including me) have hope that the warm weather and flowers will arrive.
